water good for weight loss

However, you need to know that this is not entirely true when it comes to losing weight.

Is drinking more water good for weight loss?

Drinking more water will not negatively or positively impact weight loss.

It is a fact that the amount of water you drink will help your body work more effectively. But to date, there are no studies that have linked the amount of water taken per day with body weight.

Drink water before meals to lose weight. Yes or no?

Another frequent recommendation to hear is that drinking water before meals is good. The logic of this myth is that because the stomach fills up physically.

While it is accurate that your stomach will be fuller, it is not so easy to fool your brain.

The human body has several mechanisms to regulate the number of calories you consume. Replacing a complete meal with water is not a good weight-loss strategy.

To lose weight, the fundamental thing is to avoid high content of simple carbohydrates. Avoiding sodas like Coca-Cola increases your daily calorie count and causes dehydration.

In its composition, a high concentration of salts is added that cause cellular dehydration. This is a  secret of Coca-Cola that has led to the company’s success. A drink that makes you thirsty and wants to drink more fluids.

If you choose to lose weight on a low-carbohydrate diet, you should drink more water.

If you have decided to lose weight with a  low-carb diet, you should increase the water you drink.

This IS because carbohydrates retain water molecules in the body. When these are removed, the first reaction in the body is the loss of a large amount of water.

To avoid dehydration when doing low-carb weight-loss diets like the keto diet, you should increase the amount of water you take by 30%.

What happens if I drink a lot of water?

For a healthy person, eliminating excess water in the urine is normal. Therefore, there is no official recommendation on the maximum amount of water per day.

However, it is known that if you drink a lot of water, an amount more significant than 0.7 – 1 liters of water per hour can overexert the work of the kidney.

As strange as it may sound, there are known cases of water overdose. For example, a point in the US where an adult man drank 6 liters of water in a short period. The combination with the effects of narcotic drugs caused his death (3).

After this episode, it was determined that the body could correctly process no more than 1 liter of water per hour.

ABSTRACT

You must make a caloric deficit and drink the correct water per day to lose weight.

In general, drinking a lot of water will not harm your body. However, the ideal is not to consume more than 0.7-1 liter per hour.
